Interview with Nathalie Du Pasquier

This interview was posted on our instagram page on 13 April 2020 as part of our #DistantSocialising series with Nathalie Du Pasquier from her studio in Milan.

Where are you currently painting from?

I am lucky enough to have a big studio and having been able to install myself there also for sleeping, basically I am all day in studio, mostly painting or drawing or reading or cooking or talking to my boyfriend and my dog.  I know I am very lucky not to be along and to have a big space.

What is keeping you inspired and creative during this period?

But despite my lunch I don't think this period is particularly inspiring at all. I try to keep a regular activity but mostly for mental hygiene... the black paint you sent me has been very useful. in fact I am taking old paintings from storage and changing them mostly with black sometimes is interesting... but not always.

Do you think this experience will lead to any positive changes in the way we live our lives and behave towards others?

It would be great if this strange time would force us to chance a few things of course, like abolish the crazy inequalities between people, the despite to build armaments and use them, the killing and the feeding ourselves with animals... but I am not so optimistic in regard.
